KLAGENFURT - A WARM WElCOME TO CROATIA

On Friday, Governor Jörg Haider, Mayor Harald Scheucher and EURO Coordinator Jörg Schretter arrived in Zagreb to welcome the Croatian national team and particularly the many Croatian fans who are expected to come to see the EURO in Klagenfurt and Carinthia.
The Carinthian delegation presented the EURO 2008 to the many journalists at the Hypo head office in the Croatian capital.
"We are pleased that Croatia will play in Klagenfurt", said Mayor Scheucher, who referred particularly to the historic past. "Furthermore, Croatia has an excellent national team that even eliminated England", Scheucher continued. The mayor of Klagenfurt also pointed out that the provincial capital of Carinthia was well prepared for the rush of Croatian fans. "Moreover, we have a completely new stadium and I am sure that the Croatian team will feel good here."
Governor Jörg Haider underlined the amicable relationship between Croatia and Carinthia. "Carinthia is a winter paradise for Croatians; now we are making sure that the Croatians will get to know the best sides of Carinthia in summer too", said Haider who promised to provide a great football event for the football enthusiastic Croatians in Carinthia.
Also Vlatko Markovic, President of the Croatian Football Federation, took part in the press conference. Markovic stressed that about 50,000 fans will come to Carinthia. "For our team, there will be two difficult matches in Klagenfurt; but I’m sure that because of the friendship with our country the Carinthians will back the Croatian national team", said Markovic. EURO Coordinator Jörg Schretter presented in detail the planned solutions for traffic as well as the best arrival possibilities for fans from Croatia. Furthermore, he called on the fans to use public transport to get from their accommodation to the stadium and to the fan zones.
The joint presentation of Carinthia, Klagenfurt and the Carinthian Tourist Board Kärnten Werbung was well received in Zagreb.
