GETTING TO ST. JAKOB PARK ARENA - BASEL - SWITZERLAND
May 7th, 2008
There are good reasons why public transport is the best solution when it comes to travelling to and from matches.
Kombi-ticket
Your match ticket includes free use of long-distance train and local public transport for 2nd class journey to and from the stadium on the day of the match and on the following day until 12 noon. In Switzerland match tickets are valid in the area of the General Abonnement and in Austria in nation-wide ÖBB trains and local public transports in the 4 host cities.
Wide range of services
Throughout the duration of UEFA EURO 2008™, the already outstanding public transport services are to be expanded still further. Suburban trains and trams will operate all night during the tournament in the greater Basel area. After the matches, extra trains will operate in all major Swiss cities.
Central location
With its borders with Germany and France, Basel is an international rail hub at the heart of Europe. Thanks to regular and fast rail connections from many European cities, Basel can be reached with ease by train. The distances between the stadium, the two intercity railway stations, the city centre and the Fanzones are relatively short in Basel. All of these routes also include separate, signposted pedestrian routes. Instead of taking the bus or tram, you can also complete these journeys on foot and enjoy the special spirit of UEFA EURO 2008™.
Cycling
Basel is considered one of Europe’s most bicycle-friendly regions, with a dedicated network of cycle routes both within as well as throughout environs of the city. All key sites, such as the Fanzones, the stadium and the two intercity railway stations are easy to find, and additional bike racks will also be provided at these locations.
