Filed under: EURO CUP CITIES, UEFA EURO CUP @ 4:07 pm

You’d be hard pressed to find a town where public transport is easier  to use than in Berne! From the railway station bus and tram lines take you into every corner of the town. The square where the railway station is situated is clearly labelled and the timetables are easy to read.
Bernmobil
operates the bus and tram lines; Postautolinien (Buses) and the S-Bahnen take you into the surrounding areas.
Tickets are available from in the stations. Travel destinations are organised into zones. The city of Berne is in zones 10 and 11. A ticket for a journey in Berne costs 3.80 CHF (2.50 €) for an adult and a day travelcard for zones 10 and 11 comes to 12.- CHF (€ 8.20).
You can find more details and information about special offers at: Libero-Tarifverbund.
The roads leading to the stadium can be tackled by bus, tram or on foot. Those of a sporty  disposition can hire a bicycle and use that to get around the town. It hasn’t been decided yet where these metal steeds will be stabled but we will keep you updated!

Taxi

There are taxi ranks at the railway station and at the Casinoplatz. The biggest taxi companies can be reached by means of  a free hotline (nationally):
Nova: 0800/ 87 98 79
Bärentaxi: 0800/ 55 42 32

Cars

The entire inner city is a car-free zone. Unauthorised parking is prohibited and will incur severe penalties. Parking facilities are easily identifiable via highly sophisticated signposting. A parking ticket for 4 hours costs CHF 8.- (6.- €). 24 hours costs CHF 15.- (11,20 €).

The Neufeld parking area is right next door to the motorway and is connected to the town centre (and railway station) by a regular bus service. All information regarding public transport in Berne is available at the following link: www.bernmobil.ch

Money

You will find enough banks with cash machines throughout the town to withdraw and exchange money.
There is a Post office branch on the Bärenplatz.

Security

The headquarters of the police is located at the lower end of the Waisenhausplatz. Berne is a safe town in which both men and women can move freely. All corners, nooks and crannies of the town can be explored in total safety. Nevertheless, we would advise a certain amount of caution, particularly where large groups of people are involved!

City Emergencies

Right next to the railway station, at Bubenbergplatz 10, there is an emergency control centre:
T:+41/(0)31/326 20 00
