The city of Zürich is located at the heart of Europe and in the middle of Switzerland at 409 metres above sea level. It has 370,000 inhabitants. The Canton of Zürich has 1.3 million inhabitants. Zürich has been listed six times in a row as the city with the highest quality of life in the world. Zürich lies on Lake Zürich and the River Limmat flows through the city. From the main railway station that is very centrally located, you can reach the lake in 15 minutes on foot. In the city centre everything can be easily reached on foot.
Zürich is not only the city of banks, but also the city with the most colourful and active nightlife in Switzerland and with the highest density of clubs.
Bahnhofstrasse is the most well known (and also the most expensive) shopping mile in Zürich. In addition there are also a lot more places for shopping in Niederdorf and in Aussersihl.
The town has various parks and gardens as well as different lookout points. Day trips by train to the surrounding area are easy to do. Nature is behind every corner in Zürich. From anywhere in the city you are no more than 10 minutes from a forest. In Zürich you come across people from all sorts of countries. This is what makes the city so exuberant.
