About 400 members of the Austrian premier counter-terrorism unit "Cobra" would station during the European Football Championship to provide emergency assistance, said the Cobra Commander Bernhard Treibenreif at a press conference in Vienna Neustadt on Friday.

    According to the plan of the Cobra, a daily total of about 10 to 15 protection missions have been scheduled. Cobra members would guard both on the ground and in the air, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and safely.

    The Austrian Cobra, with currently 450 members (including one woman), was formed in 1972 and is widely regarded as one of the best special forces in the world. Alone in 2007, Austrian Cobra successfully accomplished 131 house searches, 863 personal protection missions and 497 arrests.
