May 28th, 2008
Veteran Greek international goalkeeper Konstantinos Chalkias has joined PAOK FC on a free transfer from Salonika rivals Aris Thessaloniki FC.
City hat-trick
The 34-year-old was named in Greece’s UEFA EURO 2008™ squad earlier this afternoon, completing a memorable day after agreeing a two-year deal with PAOK. He joins an exclusive band of players who have turned out for all three Salonika sides – Aris, PAOK and Iraklis FC – and is relishing the chance to shine in new surroundings. “I look forward to competing at the Toumba Stadium, a ground that I visited several times as an opponent and that has gained my respect,” he said. “PAOK’s fans are demanding, but I also have high expectations of myself.”
