International understanding and fair play are the central issues of this school project on UEFA EURO 2008TM. More than 200 schools from Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are getting ready for the great event and their role as hosts:
Since the beginning of the 2007/2008 academic year, pupils of 6th to 9th grades have been ambassadors for the 53 countries represented in UEFA and have been dealing with various aspects of intercultural dialogue during and outside lessons.
They learn, study and discuss "their" countries at school, organise an international project day and organise football tournaments in "their" country colours observing special fair-play rules.
During the time of UEFA EURO 2008TM, the more than 200 EURO schools will compete with their national teams in seven Austrian and Swiss cities for the finals of the EUROSCHOOLS CUPS.
The 53 winning schools - representing the 53 UEFA nations - will play for the title of European Champion in the international finals in Innsbruck from 26 to 29 June.
The countdown has begun! The EUROSCHOOLS CUPS are coming closer! Pupils can prove their fairness and team spirit on the following EUROSCHOOLS CUP days.
2 - 4 June Bern;
4 - 6 June Innsbruck;
11 - 13 June St. Pölten;
16 - 18 June Geneva;
18 - 20 June Klagenfurt;
20 - 22 June Zurich;
23 - 25 June Basel.

Unlimited entertainment will be provided in two fan zones. The Exhibition Grounds fan zone is the "main fan zone" and offers space for 25,000 people.
All matches will be shown live on a 60 sq.m. video wall that is integrated INTO the stage. The regular programme with DJs, VJs and MCs starts daily at 2:00 in the afternoon. On some match days, there will also be live concerts in the Exhibition Grounds fan zones, and eight catering enterprises will make sure that visitors will find food and drink to their taste.
Entertainment is ensured also on the days without any matches (see programme).
Hall 3 of the Exhibition Centre offers space for 6000 people. In the first week, the matches will be shown there, too. On some days, there will be clubbings and parties after the end of the match.
The Fan Camp and the Fan Embassy are right next door.
Everything can be reached from here by foot. The train station is about five minutes away, the nearest grocery shop is very close by and the Neuer Platz fan zone is only 10 minutes away. An Internet café and a cash point are conveniently located opposite Hall 5 of the Exhibition Centre there. The stadium is about 30 minutes away by foot.

The clear signposts and dedicated shuttle service will ensure that nobody gets lost between the fan zones and the fan mile.

The smaller fan zone at Neuer Platz square offers space for 6,000 people. There is a direct footpath connecting the fan zones at the Exhibition Grounds and that on Neuer Platz. All matches will be shown live on a 40m² video wall.
The fan zone will open daily at 9:00 in the morning and is open for everybody. At 2:00 in the afternoon, the entertainment programme with DJs, VJs and MCs will begin. Culinary demands will be fulfilled by six catering units.
There will also be entertainment on days without matches. In cooperation with the Carinthian Museum of Modern Art, "Art Days" will be held on 23 and 24 June. On 27 June, the Charity Day, bands will play for free. Christina Stürmer and band will perform on 28 June.

Neuer Platz square offers the typical atmosphere that is so characteristic of a small city such as Klagenfurt. Located in the old city centre, the square is home to Klagenfurt’s heraldic beast, the lindworm dragon. Encased in plexiglass for safety reasons, the lindworm is still accessible for tourists.
