Public transport
IVB are already hard at work preparing for Euro 08
We drive the fans
The countdown to the European Football Championships has started and the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe (Innsbruck’s public transportation services) are already doing their warm-ups – they are, after all, the company who will be driving the fans at EURO 2008. The IVB has coped well with large-scale events that Innsbruck has hosted in the past and looks forward to this year’s challenge. The Managing Director of IVB, Martin Baltes, is aware of what has to be done: “We are at the centre of preparations for the event and are designing new uniforms for our drivers, giving the vehicles a face-lift and doing a lot of training. We will increase the frequency of our services during the games to make sure that fans can get from A to B safely and around the clock.” All the information about public transport in Innsbruck during EURO 2008 can be found at www.ivb.at and www.vvt.at .
FAN-Ticket
Value-for-money travel with the FAN-Ticket. With an FAN-Ticket, all visitors – including those without a match ticket – can enjoy low-cost travel on the city’s rail, tram and bus network for 36 hours. There are three different types of FAN-Ticket: You can choose between a ticket for the regional buses and trains in the area between Telfs and Schwaz, a ticket for all buses in Innsbruck’s city centre, or a combined ticket which covers both zones. The FAN-Ticket can be purchased on board all buses, or at Infopoints, ticket machines and stations with a ticket booth.
FAN-Ticket Regional (Innsbruck metropolitan area) – 36 hours
PRICES: Adults €8; children and concessions €4
FAN-Ticket Kernzone Innsbruck (Innsbruck city centre) – 36 hours

FAN-Ticket Regional + Kernzone (both zones) – 36 hours

Fans who have a ticket for UEFA EURO 2008™ will also be able to use this ticket for public transport in Innsbruck. The ticket can be used for free on all forms of public transport in Austria and Switzerland for 36 hours. (Note: here it is the timetabled departure time of the bus/train that must lie within this time period.)

Cars
A park and ride system will operate between extra car parks to the east and west of the host city of Innsbruck-Tirol and the major event areas. A shuttle service will also operate from the main railway station to these areas.
Getting there
Innsbruck-Tirol lies in the heart of the Alps and on the most important transport routes in Europe. The region is easily reached by air, rail and car. We do recommend, however, that you travel to the European Football Championships by public transport due to the expected heavy traffic. One of the great advantages of the host city of Innsbruck-Tirol is that all the important EURO 2008 locations and fan areas are within easy walking distance of each other.
Information and links about getting to Innsbruck by various forms of transportation are outlined below.
Rail
The main railway station is an important hub in international rail traffic. Both the north-south line between Germany and Italy and the east-west line between Austria, Switzerland and France pass through Innsbruck’s main railway station.

Air
Innsbruck Airport lies to the west of the city and is well linked to the public transport system. Bus line F will quickly take you to the city centre from there.
