Reinhard Tritscher, the director of the opening ceremony in the UEFA EURO 2008 Fan Zone in Salzburg, has revealed his programme for the event on Saturday.
Diverse programme
Some 350 local artists will perform in the Fan Zone in the city’s old town between 15.00 and 17.00CET on 7 June, with the event featuring an attractive and diverse side programme which incorporates folk culture to classical music to Balkan pop and jazz. In addition, the national anthems of the four teams who will play in Salzburg – Spain, Greece, Russia and Sweden – will be performed.
‘Anticipation and welcome’
"The opening of the Fan Zone at Salzburg’s Residenz Platz represents both anticipation and welcome, and the focus will be interacting with the people of other European countries," said Tritscher. An hour after the opening ceremony, the Fan Zone will experience another highlight with the live broadcast of the opening match of the final tournament between co-hosts Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

Exhibition Grounds fan zone
Unlimited entertainment will be provided in two fan zones. The Exhibition Grounds fan zone is the "main fan zone" and offers space for 25,000 people.
All matches will be shown live on a 60 sq.m. video wall that is integrated INTO the stage. The regular programme with DJs, VJs and MCs starts daily at 2:00 in the afternoon. On some match days, there will also be live concerts in the Exhibition Grounds fan zones, and eight catering enterprises will make sure that visitors will find food and drink to their taste.
Entertainment is ensured also on the days without any matches (see programme).
Hall 3 of the Exhibition Centre offers space for 6000 people. In the first week, the matches will be shown there, too. On some days, there will be clubbings and parties after the end of the match.
The Fan Camp and the Fan Embassy are right next door.
Everything can be reached from here by foot. The train station is about five minutes away, the nearest grocery shop is very close by and the Neuer Platz fan zone is only 10 minutes away. An Internet café and a cash point are conveniently located opposite Hall 5 of the Exhibition Centre there. The stadium is about 30 minutes away by foot.
The clear signposts and dedicated shuttle service will ensure that nobody gets lost between the fan zones and the fan mile.

Neuer Platz square offers the typical atmosphere that is so characteristic of a small city such as Klagenfurt.
