By public transport
Public transport is definitely the best way to get to the stadium. The extension of underground line U2 with five new stops will be opened on 10 May 2008. The new stops are "Taborstraße", "Praterstern", "Messe", "Trabrennstraße" and "Stadion". You can get directly to the stadium by underground line U2 that will operate at a higher frequency on match days. The operation of tramway line 21 will be discontinued with the opening of underground line U2. You can also get to the stadium by underground line U3 (stop "Schlachthausgasse") and underground line U1 (stop "Praterstern"), which are both only a 15 minute walk from the stadium.
On match days bus line 84A does not drive to the stadium but along Südosttangente. Bus line 77A will operate on a different route from Schüttelstraße five hours before matches start.
By car and coach
There are four different access routes to the parking zones which will be marked with temporary signage. Cars can park at the parking lots Messe Süd, Hauptallee, Lusthaus and Freudenau. There will be approximately 350 bus parking spots around Hauptallee and Messe Süd. There will also be specially designated access routes for taxis and shuttle buses. The visitors of each match are divided into two fan groups giving each team’s fans their own access routes and parking lots.
- Parking lot A: Messe Süd
- Parking lot B: Hauptallee/Lusthaus/Freudenau
By bike and on foot
There will be a large number of additional guarded bicycle stands around Marathonweg/Stadionbad. City bike stations are situated at the stops "Stadion" and "Krieau" of underground line U2. Clear signage will guide pedestrians from the underground stations and parking lots to the stadium.
Illumination along the Prater main road during the night
The main road in the Prater area running from Praterstern to Lusthaus will be equipped with new illumination especially for UEFA EURO 2008TM. The new cable light "Linea" will be fixed above the middle of the road to illuminate the whole area and avoid any dark shadows. It was a challenge for the responsible experts to combine the optimum light technology with an attractive design. The result is an energy efficient and environmentally friendly illumination of the entire road.
Barrier-free access
Underground line U2 provides barrier-free access to the Ernst-Happel-Stadion. People with special needs can park their cars in one of the 100 disabled parking spaces in the multi-storey car park at the Stadion Center mall.
